The Heartbleed Hit List: The Passwords You Need to Change Right Now

An encryption flaw called the Heartbleed bug is already being called one of the biggest security threats the Internet has ever seen. The bug has affected many popular websites and services — ones you might use every day, like Gmail and Facebook — and could have quietly exposed your sensitive account information (such as passwords and credit card numbers) over the past two years.

Redevelopment of the Special Harlem River Waterfront District

thebronxnyc:

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has released a new report outlining the positive effects the future redevelopment of the Special Harlem River Waterfront District will have on The Bronx.

As noted in the report, the redevelopment of the Special Harlem River Waterfront District…

While many look forward to January 1st for resolutions, I’ve found December 31st to be most appropriate for positive reflection. Like many years prior, 2013 was a great year. Its particular success can be measured in a variety of ways, but uniqueness is what stands out to me.
"Change," perhaps the motto of the early part of this decade, blessed us too this year. However, what’s best about "change" is not the end of one thing and the beginning of another, it’s rather the acknowledgement of growth in contrast of where you’ve been and where you’re going.  Thankfully, 2013 has continued an upward momentum of positive transformation.
Not long ago, Mastermind’s office was a small corner in the basement of our C-Town Supermarket. With a small staff of two, we dreamed of moving up, literally. Two supermarket renovations later, and after two brand new office build-outs, we now sit atop that same supermarket.  Proudly, this very year accomplished both the most recent C-Town Grand-Opening, as well as the unsurpassed growth in Mastermind’s staff.
While we obviously took pleasure in our housekeeping, we never lost focus of what allows us to prosper year after year.  Mastermind and New Era Foods One(C-Town) continued its long history of community outreach in 2013.  Most recently, we paired with City Harvest, Alpha 1 Marketing, Shop to Give and Giving Tuesday in order to provide food for the needy during the holiday season.  In the same spirit, we now gear up for our annual coat drive for a warm start to 2014.
On the community development side, a resolution we’ve proudly kept, has been the ongoing construction of pristine and affordable new homes in The Bronx, which today has totaled over 500 units and counting.  As a result, Mastermind’s portfolio of multi-family and mixed use Real Estate has grown well before the City’s push for “use it or lose it” development.
Still, the most unique addition to the company and community alike, is Mastermind’s newest small business minded product – Capital Lending.  These asset-based loans offer new entrepreneurs and property owners intelligent opportunities which conventional banks fail to calculate.  With proper planning, experience and backing, Mastermind minimizes risk and steers such partners toward the intended goal.
So here’s to changing the calendar - Yes, “change” has been good for us, and for that we look forward to a New Year, new mayor and new beginnings undeterred and ever resolved.

Happy New Year!

C-Town Supermarkets presents Shop to Give in partnership with City Harvest

From November 29th through December 5th

Visitors to C-Town can help City Harvest feed hungry New Yorkers this holiday season

Krasdale Foods and Alpha 1 Marketing, in conjunction with C-Town and Bravo Supermarkets, are proud to assist City Harvest with their efforts to fight hunger in New York City.  On Tuesday, December 3, from 9:30am – 10:30am, C-Town will be celebrating their Shop to Give campaign, running through December 5.  During the Shop to Give campaign, visitors to over 100 stores can purchase participating products at an exclusive price in honor of their partnership with City Harvest.  Brands include Domino Sugar, Bumble Bee, Mazola, General Mills, Frito Lay, Ocean Spray, Unilever, Del Monte, Conagra Foods, Mott’s, and Ronzoni.  C-Town stores are also supporting City Harvest’s annual holiday food drive, a longstanding tradition of collecting non-perishable food donations throughout New York City to help feed hungry residents.  The most needed items include canned fruit, canned vegetables, peanut butter (plastic jars), macaroni and cheese (packaged), and hot and cold cereal (packaged, family-sized).

At the event, students and teachers from the Fordham Arts School will be on hand to celebrate the campaign.  City Harvest staff will conduct a cooking demonstration, preparing samples of Cranberry Kale Salad for visitors – a healthy and simple recipe to create at home.
